Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido holds a BSc. and MSc. Degrees in Economics and has taught Economics at Gombe State University from 2006 to 2014 after which he moved to the International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIBF), Bayero University Kano. His areas of academic interest include Development Economics, Islamic Economics and Finance, Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) and Objectives of the Islamic Law (Maqasid al-Shari’ah).
Lamido has served as the National President of the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria and Muslim Students Society of Nigeria. He was the Research and Planning Officer of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI (2010-2014), and is currently the Deputy Director, Training, International Institute of Islamic Thought, IIIT, Nigeria Office, Kano and member of the Central General Purposes Committee of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
Lamido has participated and presented papers in several interfaith and peace conferences and workshops including the workshop on Conflict Prevention and Interfaith Dialogue organized by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, UK-2014 and 2015 (where he served as a co-facilitator). He has been teaching a General Studies course on Peace and Conflict Resolution for the undergraduate students of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK). He is also a trainer for the Da’wah Institute Nigeria.
