Salisu Shehu, PhD, is a Professor of Educational Psychology with the Department of Education Bayero University, Kano. Prof Shehu holds a Bachelor of Arts (Ed) from Bayero University Kano (BUK), M.Ed. (Educational Psychology), BUK and PhD (Educational Psychology) from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto. He worked with the Federal College of Education (Tech.), Gombe 1990-1994 after which he joined the services of BUK in 1994.
Shehu has authored seven books on issues related to governance, Islamization of Knowledge, Peace, etc. in addition to over thirty (30) academic papers in his areas of research interest which include Educational Psychology, Islamic Psychology, Islamic Education, Critical Issues in Education, Teacher Education, Open and Distance Learning, Critical Social Theory, Peace Education and Conflict Resolution as well as Social Justice and Good Governance. He has presented papers at International Conferences and published in reputable local and International Journals.
Shehu served BUK in various capacities including membership of the University Senate (2x), Postgraduate School Board, Committee of Deans and Directors and University Governing Council. He was also the Pioneer Director of the Institute of Continuing Education and Pioneer Dean School of Continuing Education.
Prof Shehu was a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM)( 2005-2009) and Special Advisor to the Bauchi State Governor on Education and Societal Reorientation( 2007-2011).
Shehu served as the National President of the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria (MCAN) and Member, Expanded General Purposes Committee, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and is currently the National Coordinator, IIIT Nigeria.
Shehu is a prolific writer and articulate public speaker. He speaks Hausa, English, Arabic and Fulfulde (In order of proficiency). He is married and blessed with children.
